Verses that Encourage

Those who don't accept LGBTQ individuals will often quote the "clobber" passages from the Bible - 4 passages from the Old Testament and 3 passages in the New Testament. However, there are over 370 passages in the New Testament that are encouraging to all people, including the LGBTQ community.  How does that compare?  When wondering if those who identify as LGBTQ are loved by God, I encourage you to read and ponder these verses that apply to you and to your LGBTQ friends and family members.

John 1:12-13 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

 

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

 

John 3:5-6 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”

 

Jesus 3:14-15 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; that whoever believes may in Him have eternal life.

 

John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.  For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him.

 

John 3:18 He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

 

John 3:36 He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.

 

John 4:14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.

 

John 5:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

 

John 6:35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me shall not hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.

 

John 6:37 All that the Father gives Me shall come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out.

 

John 6:40 For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him, may have eternal life; and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.

 

John 6:45 It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught of God’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me.

 

John 6:56 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.

 

John 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.

 

John 6:65 And He was saying, “For this reason I have said to you, that no one can come to Me, unless it has been granted him from the Father.”

 

John 7:17 “If any man is willing to do His will, he shall know of the teaching, whether it is of God, or whether I speak from Myself.”

 

John 7:24 “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”

 

John 7:37-38 “If any man is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘from his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water.’”

 

John 8:11 And she said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I

 

condemn you; go your way. From now on sin no more.”

 

John 8:12 And again therefore Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life,”

 

John 8:24 “I said therefore to you, that you shall die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you shall die in your sins.”

 

John 8:31-32 Jesus therefore was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you abide in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

 

John 8:36 “If therefore the Son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.”

 

John 8:47 “He who is of God hears the words of God; for this reason you do not hear them, because you are not of God.

 

John 8:51 “Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word, he shall never see death.”

 

John 10:9 “I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.”

 

John 10:11 “I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”

 

John 10:14 “I am the good shepherd; and I know My own, and My own know Me,”

 

John 10:16 “And I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they shall hear My voice; and they shall become one flock with one shepherd.”

 

John 10:27-28 “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they shall never perish; and no one shall snatch them out of My hand.”

 

John 10:29 “My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.”

 

John 11:25-26 “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

 

John 12:26 “If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there shall My servant also be; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.”

 

John 12:44-45 And Jesus cried out and said, “He who believes in Me does not believe in Me, but in Him who sent Me. And he who beholds Me beholds the One who sent me.”

 

John 12:46 “I have come as light into the world, that everyone who believes in Me may not remain in darkness.”

 

John 13:20 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who receives whomever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent me.”

 

John 13:34-35 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

 

John 14:1-3 “Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”

 

John 14:6-7 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”

 

John 14:13-15 “And whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it. If you love Me, you will keep my commandments.”

 

John 14:21 “He who has My commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves Me; and he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father and I will love him, and will disclose Myself to him.”

 

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him, and make Our abode with him.”

 

John 14:26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.”

 

John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.”

 

John 15:4 “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in Me.”

 

John 15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you can do nothing.”

 

John 15:7 “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it shall be done for you.”

 

John 15:9 “Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love.”

 

John 15:10-11 “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments, and abide in His love.  These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.”

 

John 15:12 “This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.”

 

John 15:14 “You are My friends, if you do what I command you.”

 

John 15:16 “You did not choose Me, but I chose you, and appointed you; that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask of the Father in My name, He may give to you.”

 

John 15:17 “This I command you, that you love one another.”

 

John 16:13-14 “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. He shall glorify Me; for He shall take of Mine, and shall disclose it to you.”

 

John 16:26-27 “In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I will request the Father on your behalf; for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from the Father.”

 

John 16:33 “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”

 

John 17:20-21 “I do not ask in behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one; even as Thou, Father art in Me, and I in Thee, that they also may be in Us; that the world may believe that Thou didst send Me.”

 

John 17:23 “I in them, and Thou in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, that the world may know that Thou didst send Me, and didst love them even as Thou didst love Me.”

 

John 20:29 Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed.”

 

John 20:31 But these have been written that you may believe that Jesus in the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.”
